Fresh Meat

So you wanna be a Roller Girl? We are excited to have you join our ranks with the Chattanooga Roller Girls. We know that the initial steps in becoming a part of an athletic team can be intimidating. We want to make sure that you have everything you need along with an expectation of how your journey will begin.

Equipment needed:

*Additional safety gear is recommended but not required. Communicate with Head of Training for details on specific brand or style of gear.

Asphalt Beach Skate Shop

Where to go to get your gear!

Asphalt Beach is Skater Owned and Operated by Steve Larios and Corporate Sponsor and outfitter of the Nashville Rollergirls.

They carry skates, wheels, pads, helmets and accessories – everything you need for derby!

Mention you're with the Chattanooga Roller Girls and get a 10% discount on your order!

Your Fresh Meat status begins once you have acquired all of your gear and have been approved through the Head of Training, begun paying monthly dues per league policy, and have submitted the USARS form (USARS can take up to 4-6 weeks to become active, so it is imperative to get the ball rolling asap). As a fresh meat skater, you are encouraged to attend monthly league meetings as a non-voting member of the league.

Fresh Meat will then begin their 60-day probationary period and become a member of the league. At that point, Fresh Meat will be responsible for acknowledgement of the CRG by laws and will be governed by them.

Training Regimen

Fresh meat girls will undergo extensive training in regards to Roller derby standards of play and WFTDA minimum skills requirements. At the end of their 60-day training period, they will be assessed by the training committee for promotion to active skater. The Fresh meat skater will have to pass the WFTDA basic skills and written test. The written test must have a score of 85% or above in order to pass.

Once promoted to an active skater status, you will then need to submit a roller derby name and number to the CRG Manager.

We are thankful that you have chosen to check out the Chattanooga Roller Girls and hope to see you on the track!
